Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 21, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how the Tap2Remind mobile application (“the app”) collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use it. Tap2Remind is published as a free app on the Google Play Store by the developer (“we,” “us”) and is intended to be a private, on-device productivity tool.
1. Information collected on your device
The following is processed locally on your phone and is not transmitted to us:
- Voice recordings. When you tap the voice button, the audio is processed by Android’s on-device speech recognizer and converted to text. The audio is not saved by the app and is not uploaded to our servers.
- Reminder text. Your reminders are stored in a local SQLite database on the device. They never leave your phone unless you enable cloud sync (see below).
- Location. If — and only if — you tag a reminder to a place, Android uses your device’s location services to fire that reminder when you arrive. Coordinates are stored locally with the reminder. We do not collect or transmit your location.
2. Information collected if you sign in with Google (optional)
The app offers an optional Google Sign-In feature so you can back up your reminders to the cloud and restore them on another device. If you choose to sign in, the following data is associated with your Google account and stored in Google Firebase (operated by Google LLC):
- Your Google account ID, name, and email address (so we can identify your sync data).
- The contents of your reminders (title, body, schedule, place tag, completion state). Encrypted in transit via HTTPS.
You can use Tap2Remind without signing in. Signing out and uninstalling the app deletes all local data from your phone. To delete cloud-synced data, email [email protected] from the Google account in question and we will remove it within 30 days.
3. Permissions and how they are used
RECORD_AUDIO— capture your voice when you press the voice button. Used only while you are actively recording.ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION,ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION,ACCESS_BACKGROUND_LOCATION— only used when you create a place-tagged reminder. You can revoke these in Android Settings any time without losing time-based reminders.POST_NOTIFICATIONS— show the alarm when a reminder fires.SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM,USE_EXACT_ALARM,USE_FULL_SCREEN_INTENT— fire reminders at the exact minute you asked for.RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED— re-arm scheduled reminders after the phone restarts.INTERNET,ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE— only used when you opt in to Google sign-in / cloud sync.
4. Sharing of information
We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with advertisers or analytics providers. The only third-party processor is Google (Firebase) and only if you opt in to cloud sync. Their handling of the data is governed by Google’s privacy policy.
5. Children
Tap2Remind is a general-audience productivity tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
6. Security
Local data is protected by your device’s lock screen. Cloud-synced data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored under your Google account’s authentication. No system is perfectly secure; we cannot guarantee absolute protection of data in transit or at rest, but we do not store passwords or payment information of any kind.
7. Your rights
You can:
- View and delete reminders directly in the app.
- Export your reminders to a file (Settings → Export).
- Revoke location, microphone, or notification permission at any time in Android Settings.
- Request deletion of cloud-synced data by emailing [email protected].
8. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, if the change is material, prompt you in the app before the next sync.
